I’m starting to grow pretty impressed with myself. Not one who ever enjoyed cooking, I’m actually starting to really like it. This is likely cause for alarm for various family members realizing that the odds of me burning down the house just increased. The ex would jokingly put the local fire boys on standby when I cooked, and it was actually amusing. I ran with that later when divorced and would tweet “Delhi Township EMS/Fire be on standby, I’m cooking again”. But I am not really a hazard to anything by possibly my ass widening. Especially now that I’m beginning to like making things that are, indeed, edible.
Which brings me to Pinterest. I got away from my pinning addiction for a bit, but I’m back at it. Some is fun stuff, like funny autocorrects, some is dream stuff, like my dream cars and very UNtraditional taste is wedding rings should that day ever come again, some is cool decorating ideas, and then there are the recipes. OH the wonderful pins of foods that even an unlikely cook such as me can master. I’ve moved beyond my own black bean, totally awesome chili and onto other culinary adventures. First the mini tacos that I stumbled on while hunting for football game foods for the upcoming season. Those were good and the pin is a good baseline for some seriously off the charts munchies. The junior prince and princess (the Knight’s kiddos), really liked them. After that I tried the baked Italian heros, which were tasty but honestly could have stood a little longer in the oven than I did. Last night we had my son and his family over for dinner so I got brave and made sweet and tangy chicken. That was good stuff. Mind you I do basics like spaghetti, chocolate chip pancakes etc, but these were out of the ordinary. I’m darned impressed, they were yummy. I have two more Pinterest recipes hitting the Palace dinner table later this week. I’ll let you know how those turn out.
I also made walnut fudge brownies tonight, chopped fresh fruit and veggies for the week, made a pot of chili…all after going grocery shopping for the next 2 weeks, after the Knight left for work. I’m tired! Bring on the chamomile tea here soon, as I relax and get ready for bed.
I’ve been giving a lot of thought to love, and why things start out so well and riding a high wave, only to seemingly crash and face plant in the sand and I believe that I have some things figured out as to why this is working out so well with the Knight, and why I know we are going to be awesome. But that is a blog post for another day. For now, I’m grabbing some Sleepy Time Tea and a book and heading up to the palace royal bedchamber to chill and wait on my Knight to get home.
